Job summary

Know How Resourcing is seeking an experienced Transformer Engineer with supervisory experience to oversee the installation, testing and maintenance of distribution and power transformers and package substations at customer sites across the UK, with occasional European travel.

You will supervise installation teams, coordinate engineering activities, review drawings, ensure safety and quality, and act as a customer-facing representative while maintaining high service standards.

Qualifications

• Previous supervisory or team leadership experience within mechanical or electrical engineering, ideally transformers and package substations.
• Strong hands-on experience with transformer installation, fitting and assembly.
• Hands-on technical background to support site teams in resolving issues.
• Experience supervising site-based engineering activities and coordinating personnel.
• Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and electrical schematics.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and coordinate installation, fitting, wiring, assembly and testing of transformers and package substations.
• Oversee day-to-day site activities, ensuring safety and adherence to specifications and schedules.
• Allocate work, coordinate resources and provide technical guidance to site personnel.
• Review drawings and parts lists to plan activities and ensure availability of correct parts.
• Provide hands-on support for assembly and testing as needed.
• Supervise site testing, commissioning and inspection to meet standards before handover.
• Oversee warranty investigations and rectification work.
• Travel to customer and third-party sites across the UK and Europe.
• Act as a customer-facing representative, maintaining professional relationships.
• Coordinate with customers, project managers, engineers and subcontractors to resolve site challenges.
• Ensure compliance with Health & Safety legislation and safe working practices.
• Coach and train colleagues to develop technical skills and safe working practices.
