Job summary

Hitachi Energy UK Limited is seeking a Field Service Engineer (Mechanical) to join the Transformers business. You will deliver installation, assembly, maintenance and commissioning of large power transformers and related equipment across the UK.

This field-based role involves extensive travel, overnight stays and occasional weekend work to meet project delivery requirements. Responsibilities include leading site activities, carrying out refurbishment and routine maintenance, and ensuring safety,

Qualifications

• Mechanical engineering or related qualification required.
• Experience in installation, assembly, commissioning, maintenance or repair of large industrial, mechanical, electrical or electro-mechanical equipment.
• Ability to read mechanical and electrical drawings, technical documentation and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Support the installation, assembly and commissioning of large power transformers and associated equipment, including radiators, conservators, cooling systems, pipework, bushings and auxiliary components.
• Undertake transformer refurbishment projects, routine maintenance activities, inspections and component replacements, identifying issues and supporting technical investigations and recommendations.
• Carry out oil handling, oil processing, oil filtration and oil sampling in accordance with procedures and quality requirements.
• Assist with mechanical checks, equipment inspections, leak detection, pressure testing and functional testing to ensure correct operation.
• Lead site activities from start to finish under the Project Manager, ensuring safety, efficiency and alignment with customer requirements.
• Maintain project site documentation, quality records and service reports and provide technical feedback for continuous improvement.

Education

Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related Engineering qualification such as Apprenticeship, NVQ Level 3, HNC/HND, Military Engineering training or equivalent industry experience
