Job summary

Veolia, based in Basingstoke, is seeking a Part-time Shift Team Leader to operate and monitor power station equipment, including high-pressure boilers and turbine systems, from the central control room. The role requires SAP status or progress toward SAP accreditation and a strong focus on safety and regulatory compliance.

With a pro-rata salary and a 15% annual bonus, the position offers training, volunteering days, and a comprehensive benefits package.

Qualifications

• Qualifications or equivalent experience in power generation or similar industrial environment.
• Engineering knowledge of boilers, steam systems, turbines, and generators.
• Experience with control room operations and Distributed Control Systems (DCS).
• Knowledge of boiler water treatment and steam-cycle chemistry.
• NEBOSH General Certificate and/or IOSH Managing Safely.
• Legionella awareness.
• Knowledge of PUWER, LOLER and CDM Regulations.

Responsibilities

• Operate and monitor the power station via central control room and DCS.
• Manage permit-to-work processes and safe systems of work.
• Coordinate planning with Engineering and Operations teams including maintenance and outages.
• Identify defects and progress work orders in the CMMS/EAM system.
• Ensure compliance with environmental permits and health and safety rules.
• Maintain stock levels and coordinate deliveries and materials management.
• Promote a positive safety culture.
