Job summary

EMC in Stevenage seeks a power electronics technical lead to steer a team of Tech Leads across barking complex defence systems projects. You will be the go-to voice on power electronics, ensuring designs meet EMC and environmental standards while guiding pre-reviews and gate reviews.

A British Citizen is required due to security clearance. You'll influence bids, allocate work, and drive process improvements while hands-on with mixed analogue/digital control electronics, inverters, and gate

Qualifications

Strong power electronics design background, ideally PMSM motor control or motor drive design.
Experience across mixed analogue and digital control electronics (inverters, gate drives, current sensing).
Familiar with full product development lifecycle and EMC/environmental compliance.
Ability to contribute to bids and design reviews for defence/industrial applications.

Responsibilities

Be the go-to technical voice on power electronics and process questions across the team.
Track each Tech Lead's project via regular catch-ups to spot issues early and steer.
Review project plans and help teams prepare for gate reviews, including pre-reviews.
Act as escalation route for realistic, cost-effective technical answers.
Help decide workload distribution across projects and partners.
Input into bids for actuator and motor drive business.
Identify and drive process improvements to maximise team output.
Design focus on PMSM and motor drive concepts to support multiple projects.
Support design for test and design for manufacture (DFM) activities.
Ensure designs meet EMC and environmental compliance.
