Job summary

Royal Mail is seeking a Postie (Postal Delivery Driver) for Larkhall on a fixed-term 6‑month contract. The role is 30 hours/week, 09:30–15:30, 5 days in 7 with Sundays included, delivering letters and parcels in the local area by van and on foot.

You’ll receive full training, a uniform, and the iconic red Royal Mail van. The job is physically demanding but rewarding, outdoors in all weathers, with community-facing duties.

Salary: £13.68 per hour* (paid monthly) + paid overtime available.

Working hours: 30:00 hours per week – working 5 days in 7 across Monday - Sunday – 09:30/15:30*

You’ll work on a rotating shift schedule, including some weekends. Your rota will confirm your hours and delivery routes, which may vary based on demand.

What To Expect

• Walking long distances (up to 12 miles / 20,000+ steps)
• Driving a Royal Mail van daily

About You

We’ll provide full training, a uniform, and an iconic red van. You’ll need:

• A full manual UK driving licence (maximum 6 penalty points, registered to your current name and address)
• Willingness to drive a Royal Mail van daily and able to pass a driving assessment
• Physically fit and comfortable walking long distances, climbing stairs / hills, and lifting / carrying 10kg+ mailbags
• Reliable and self-motivated
• Strong organisation and resilience in a busy environment
• Customer-focused, with pride in delivering great service
• Comfortable working outdoors and independently
