Job summary

Royal Mail Huntingdon Delivery Office is hiring a Postie to deliver letters and parcels across the local area. You will sort items at the office, drive a Royal Mail van, and walk routes on foot, building relationships with customers and working outdoors in all weather.

The role is full-time with a rotating schedule, including weekends. Full training is provided, and a red Royal Mail van will be used on daily routes.

Qualifications

• Full UK manual driving licence (max 6 penalty points)
• Willingness to drive a Royal Mail van daily and pass a driving assessment
• Physically fit and able to walk long distances, climb stairs/hills, lift/carry 10kg+ mailbags
• Reliable and self-motivated
• Strong organisation and resilience in a busy environment

Job description

Location: Huntingdon Delivery Office, PE29 7AB

Job type: Permanent contract (xx months) (amend/delete if not applicable)

Salary: £13.68 per hour* (paid monthly) + paid overtime available.

Working hours: 37:00 hours per week - working (X) days in 7 across Monday - Sunday - Between 07:00 - 10:00/Between 15:00 - 19:00*

You'll work on a rotating shift schedule, including some weekends. Your rota will confirm your hours and delivery routes, which may vary based on demand.

You'll be required to work Sundays at (location) Delivery Office.

What To Expect

This role is physically demanding and fast-paced:

• Walking long distances (up to 12 miles / 20,000+ steps)
• Driving a Royal Mail van daily
• Working in all weather conditions
• Delivering letters and high volumes of parcels
• Busy, time-pressured days, especially during peak periods

About You

We'll provide full training, a uniform, and an iconic red van. You'll need:
