Job summary

The MRC Weatherall Institute of Molecular Medicine at John Radcliffe Hospital, Oxford, invites applications for a Postdoctoral Researcher in Genomics and Genome Editing to develop bespoke platform approaches for treating rare diseases.

You will plan and perform laboratory experiments, generate high-quality data, and write up findings for publication. You will present data at regular meetings and report to the Group Head, working both independently and as part of a team.

Qualifications

Postdoctoral Researcher in Genomics and Genome Editing

Applications are invited for a Postdoctoral Researcher position to work with Professor James Davies and Professor Ronjon Chakraverty. This is an exciting opportunity to work on developing cutting-edge genome editing methods as part of the new MRC Centre of Research Excellence (CoRE) in Therapeutic Genomics. The main focus of the work is to develop a bespoke platform for using genome editing to treat rare disease.

You will be responsible for planning and carrying out laboratory research, generating high quality data and writing up findings for publication. You will also need to present data and ideas at regular meetings, and to report and communicate on a regular basis with the Group Head. Working both independently and as part of a team, it is essential that you are able to communicate effectively.

You will have a PhD (or submitted thesis) in Haematology, Genome Editing or a related discipline, together with relevant experience. Experience of conducting complex genome editing and single cell genomics experiments, as well as designing and carrying out experiments with murine models of transplantation will be essential. Experience of purification of cells from blood and bone marrow using flow cytometry and cell sorting is also required together with experience of advanced genome editing including cloning of CRISPR gRNAs for custom screens, base editing (including alternative specificity Cas enzymes) and prime editing. Experience of off-target assays such as CIRCLE-seq and GUIDE-seq and a strong publication record are desirable.

This position is available fixed term for 12 months, funded by the Medical Research Council.
