Job summary

University of Oxford, based at John Radcliffe Hospital, seeks a Post-Doctoral Research Scientist in gene therapy to join the Gene Medicine Research Group.

You will optimise LVNP production, scale-up processes, purification and concentration testing, and contribute to translational research.

Candidates should hold a PhD/DPhil in gene therapy or related field and have experience in gene delivery, cell culture, flow cytometry, ddPCR, vector production and chromatography.

Job description

Post-Doctoral Research Scientist

John Radcliffe Hospital, Headington, Oxford OX3 9DU

We are seeking an enthusiastic post-doctoral research scientist in gene therapy at the University of Oxford, based at the John Radcliffe Hospital, to join the Gene Medicine Research Group, directed by Professors Deborah Gill and Steve Hyde.

You will be part of a multi-disciplinary team developing Lentiviral derived nanoparticles (LVNPs) to treat rare diseases and will be keen to participate in translational research. You will have responsibility for optimising processes required to produce LVNPs at scale including testing strategies for purification and concentration.

You will hold (or be in the process of completing) a PhD/DPhil in gene therapy/gene editing, or a closely related field. Relevant laboratory experience in gene delivery, mammalian cell culture, flow cytometry, ddPCR, vector production and chromatography is essential, along with excellent communication and inter-personal skills required for integrated team working. A Home Office Licence with experience in gene delivery in vivo would be an advantage.

The position is available immediately and is funded by the Edinburgh BioEngineering Hub award for 6 months.
