Job summary

Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine is seeking a Post Doctoral Research Associate in Viral Immunology to join a new project on CECoV immunology and evolution in Liverpool. The role involves leading experimental design and conducting antibody, entry and evolution studies within a dynamic infectious disease research group.

You will collaborate with the Project Lead, contribute to data analysis and interpretation, and help coordinate the day-to-day work of a Research Technician.

Qualifications

• PhD in virology, immunology, microbiology, molecular biology or related field.
• Experience with flow cytometry, viral entry assays and serological assays.
• Experience with phylogenetic or evolutionary analysis.
• Experience maintaining mammalian cell stocks.
• Experience with bioinformatic pipelines and scripting languages.
• Strong publication record and writing skills.

Responsibilities

• Design and conduct experiments for antibody responses, entry mechanisms and evolution.
• Develop and optimise laboratory methodologies; troubleshoot problems.
• Generate, analyse and interpret high-quality experimental datasets.
• Coordinate day-to-day activities of a Research Technician.
• Prepare internal and external reports and manuscripts.
• Integrate findings across immunology, viral entry biology and genomics.
