Job summary

Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine is inviting applications for a Post Doctoral Research Associate in Viral Immunology to lead primary research on canine enteric coronavirus. The role involves designing experiments, analysing data and coordinating a small team within a newly established group.

The successful candidate will work on antibody responses, viral entry mechanisms and genomics, with opportunities to develop leadership and scientific independence in infectious disease research.

Qualifications

  • PhD/DPhil in virology, immunology, microbiology, molecular biology, pathogen genomics or closely related discipline.
  • Experience in molecular biology techniques and cell biology.
  • Experience with phylogenetic or evolutionary analysis.
  • Hands-on expertise with flow cytometry, viral entry assays, and serological assays.

Responsibilities

  • Designing, planning and conducting experimental studies in consultation with the Project Lead.
  • Developing and optimising laboratory methodologies.
  • Troubleshooting complex technical problems.
  • Generating and interpreting high-quality datasets.
  • Coordinate day-to-day activities of a Research Technician.
  • Contribute to reports, presentations and manuscripts.
