Job summary

Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine invites applications for a Postdoctoral Research Associate to lead experiments on canine enteric coronavirus immunology, viral entry and genomics. You will design studies, analyse data and collaborate with the Project Lead while coordinating a Research Technician to ensure smooth day-to-day progress.

The role offers a platform to develop scientific independence, leadership, and broad infectious disease expertise within a vibrant research environment at LSTM.

Qualifications

• PhD/DPhil in virology, immunology, microbiology, molecular biology or closely related discipline.
• Experience with molecular biology techniques and cell biology.
• Experience with phylogenetic or evolutionary analysis.
• Hands-on expertise with flow cytometry, viral entry assays, and serological assays.
• Experience maintaining stocks of mammalian cells.
• Experience with bioinformatic pipelines and scripting languages.
• Experience writing research papers for publication.

Responsibilities

• Design, plan and conduct primary research on CECoV immunology, entry biology and genomics.
• Develop and optimise laboratory methods and troubleshoot complex problems.
• Generate, analyse and interpret high-quality datasets.
• Coordinate day-to-day activities of a Research Technician.
• Collaborate with the Project Lead on experimental design and data interpretation.
• Integrate antibody binding, neutralisation and Fc-function data.
• Prepare reports, presentations and manuscripts for dissemination.
