Job summary

Royal Mail is recruiting a Postie (Postal Delivery Driver) for the Dromore Delivery Office. The role is permanent with 30 hours per week on a 5-in-6 rotating shift, Monday to Saturday, 08:00–14:00.

You will deliver letters and parcels by van and on foot, building strong relationships with customers. You'll receive full training, a uniform, and a benefits package including holiday, pension, wellbeing support, and discounts.

Qualifications

• Full manual UK driving licence with up to 6 penalty points.
• Willingness to drive a Royal Mail van daily and pass a driving assessment.
• Physically fit and comfortable walking long distances, stairs/hills, and lifting 10kg+ mailbags.

• Strong organisation and resilience in a busy environment.

Job description

Location: Dromore Delivery Office, BT25 1AA

Job type: Permanentcontract

Salary: £13.68 per hour* (paid monthly) + paid overtime available. Working hours: 30:00 hours per week - working 5days in 6 across Monday - Saturday - 08.00/14.00*

You'll work on a rotating shift schedule, including some weekends. Your rota will confirm your hours and delivery routes, which may vary based on demand.

What to expect

This role is physically demanding and fast-paced:

• Walking long distances (up to 12 miles / 20,000+ steps)
• Driving a Royal Mail van daily
• Working in all weather conditions

• Busy, time-pressured days, especially during peak periods

About you

We'll provide full training, a uniform, and an iconic red van. You'll need:

• full manual UK driving licence (maximum 6 penalty points, registered to your current name and address)
• Willingness to drive a Royal Mail van daily and able to pass a driving assessment
• Physically fit and comfortable walking long distances, climbing stairs / hills, and lifting / carrying 10kg+ mailbags
• Reliable and self-motivated
• Strong organisation and resilience in a busy environment
• Customer-focused, with pride in delivering great service
• Comfortable working outdoors and independently
