Job summary

Royal Mail in Arbroath is seeking a Postie to deliver letters and parcels on a 30-hour week, working 5 days in 7 across 09:00–17:00. You’ll be out on the road daily, with full training, a uniform, and a Royal Mail van provided.

The role is a 9-month fixed-term contract, with paid overtime where available. You’ll work outdoors in all weathers, building relationships with customers and staying active as part of the community.

Qualifications

• A full manual UK driving licence is required.
• Physically able to walk long distances and lift 10kg+ mailbags.
• Reliable, self-motivated and organised for independent work.

What To Expect

This role is physically demanding and fast-paced:

• Walking long distances (up to 12 miles / 20,000+ steps)
• Driving a Royal Mail van daily
• Working in all weather conditions
• Delivering letters and high volumes of parcels
• Busy, time-pressured days, especially during peak periods

About You

We’ll provide full training, a uniform, and an iconic red van. You’ll need:

• A full manual UK driving licence (maximum 6 penalty points, registered to your current name and address)
• Willingness to drive a Royal Mail van daily and able to pass a driving assessment
• Physically fit and comfortable walking long distances, climbing stairs/hills, and lifting/carrying 10kg+ mailbags
• Reliable and self-motivated
• Strong organisation and resilience in a busy environment
• Customer-focused, with pride in delivering great service
• Comfortable working outdoors and independently
