Job summary

Royal Mail Group in Leatherhead is seeking a Postie to deliver letters and parcels on a rotating shift, 37 hours per week across Monday to Sunday, with weekend work and early starts. Full training is provided and you’ll drive a Royal Mail van.

You’ll work outdoors in all weather, walk long distances, and be the face of our trusted service, building relationships with customers and ensuring timely deliveries.

Qualifications

Job type: Permanent contract (9 months)

Salary: £16.24 per hour* (paid monthly) + paid overtime available.
Working hours: 37hours per week - working (5) days in 7 across Monday - Sunday - 0800/2000

You’ll work on a rotating shift schedule, including some weekends. Your rota will confirm your hours and delivery routes, which may vary based on demand.

You’ll be required to work Sundays at (LEATHERHEAD)Delivery Office.

What to expect

This role is physically demanding and fast-paced:

• Walking long distances (up to 12 miles / 20,000+ steps)
• Driving a Royal Mail van daily
• Working in all weather conditions
• Delivering letters and high volumes of parcels
• Busy, time-pressured days, especially during peak periods

About you

We’ll provide full training, a uniform, and an iconic red van. You’ll need:

• A full manual UK driving licence (maximum 6 penalty points, registered to your current name and address)
• Willingness to drive a Royal Mail van daily and able to pass a driving assessment
• Physically fit and comfortable walking long distances, climbing stairs / hills, and lifting / carrying 10kg+ mailbags
• Reliable and self-motivated
• Strong organisation and resilience in a busy environment
• Customer-focused, with pride in delivering great service
• Comfortable working outdoors and independently
