Job summary

Royal Mail is hiring a Postie (Postal Delivery Driver) in Cranleigh. The role is a permanent contract with 37 hours per week and a 5-days-in-6 rota from Monday to Saturday (06:00/14:30). Some Sundays are 1 in 4 at Guilford Delivery Office. Salary is £13.68 per hour plus paid overtime; location Cranleigh (GU6 8AA).

You will sort mail, deliver by van and on foot, and build relationships with customers, working outdoors in all weather. Training provided, with a uniform and iconic van.

Qualifications

• Full manual UK driving licence with up to 6 penalty points.
• Ability to pass a driving assessment.
• Physically fit for long walking and lifting mailbags.
• Reliable, self-motivated and organised.
• Comfortable working outdoors and independently.

What To Expect

This role is physically demanding and fast-paced:

• Walking long distances (up to 12 miles / 20,000+ steps)
• Driving a Royal Mail van daily

• Busy, time-pressured days, especially during peak periods

About You

We’ll provide full training, a uniform, and an iconic red van. You’ll need:

• A full manual UK driving licence (maximum 6 penalty points, registered to your current name and address)
• Willingness to drive a Royal Mail van daily and able to pass a driving assessment
• Physically fit and comfortable walking long distances, climbing stairs / hills, and lifting / carrying 10kg+ mailbags
• Reliable and self-motivated
• Strong organisation and resilience in a busy environment
• Customer-focused, with pride in delivering great service
• Comfortable working outdoors and independently
