Job summary

Royal Mail in Woodbridge is seeking a Postie (Postal Delivery Driver) for a fixed-term 12-month contract. You will deliver letters and parcels, sort at the delivery office, and work 35 hours per week across five days, including Sundays at the Ipswich Delivery Office.

You’ll drive a Royal Mail van and walk routes, staying active in all weathers. A full manual UK driving licence with up to 6 penalty points is required, along with reliability, independence, and a customer‑focus approach.

Salary: £13.68 per hour* (paid monthly) + paid overtime available.

Working hours: 35 hours per week – working (5) days in 7 across Monday - Sunday – 07:30am/13:30pm/13:30pm/19:30pm*

What To Expect

This role is physically demanding and fast-paced:

• Walking long distances (up to 12 miles / 20,000+ steps)
• Driving a Royal Mail van daily
• Working in all weather conditions
• Delivering letters and high volumes of parcels
• Busy, time-pressured days, especially during peak periods

About You

We’ll provide full training, a uniform, and an iconic red van. You’ll need:

• A full manual UK driving licence (maximum 6 penalty points, registered to your current name and address)
• Willingness to drive a Royal Mail van daily and able to pass a driving assessment
• Physically fit and comfortable walking long distances, climbing stairs / hills, and lifting / carrying 10kg+ mailbags
• Reliable and self-motivated
• Strong organisation and resilience in a busy environment
• Customer-focused, with pride in delivering great service
• Comfortable working outdoors and independently
