Job summary

Royal Mail Group in Felixstowe is seeking a Postie to deliver letters and parcels across the local area. You will work on a rotating shift, 35 hours per week, with weekend work and Sundays at Ipswich Delivery Office.

Full training and a branded van are provided, with a focus on customer service and community connection. The role requires a full manual UK driving licence, physical fitness to walk long distances, and reliability.

Job type: Fixed Termcontract (12 months)

Salary: £13.68 per hour* (paid monthly) + paid overtime available.Working hours: 35hours per week - working (5)days in 7 across Monday - Sunday - 09:00am/15:00pm/15:00pm/21:00pm*

You’ll work on a rotating shift schedule, including some weekends. Your rota will confirm your hours and delivery routes, which may vary based on demand.

You’ll be required to work Sundays at (Ipswich) Delivery Office.

What to expect

This role is physically demanding and fast-paced:

• Walking long distances (up to 12 miles / 20,000+ steps)
• Driving a Royal Mail van daily
• Working in all weather conditions
• Delivering letters and high volumes of parcels
• Busy, time‑pressured days, especially during peak periods

About you

We’ll provide full training, a uniform, and an iconic red van. You’ll need:

• A full manual UK driving licence (maximum 6 penalty points, registered to your current name and address)
• Willingness to drive a Royal Mail van daily and able to pass a driving assessment
• Physically fit and comfortable walking long distances, climbing stairs / hills, and lifting / carrying 10kg+ mailbags
• Reliable and self‑motivated
• Strong organisation and resilience in a busy environment
• Customer‑focused, with pride in delivering great service
• Comfortable working outdoors and independently
