Job summary

Royal Mail is hiring a Postie (Postal Delivery Driver) in Acton, London. The role is a fixed-term contract (9 months) with 30 hours per week, Monday–Sunday shifts 07:00–20:00, and a salary of £16.24 per hour with paid overtime.

You will deliver letters and parcels, walk routes, and interact with customers in the community. You must hold a full manual UK driving licence (max 6 penalty points) and be physically able to drive a Royal Mail van, walk long distances, and lift mailbags.

You’ll work on a rotating shift schedule, including some weekends. Your rota will confirm your hours and delivery routes, which may vary based on demand.

You’ll be required to work Sundays at (WEST LONDON) Delivery Office.

What to expect

This role is physically demanding and fast-paced:

• Walking long distances (up to 12 miles / 20,000+ steps)
• Driving a Royal Mail van daily

• Busy, time-pressured days, especially during peak periods

About you

We’ll provide full training, a uniform, and an iconic red van. You’ll need:

• A full manual UK driving licence (maximum 6 penalty points, registered to your current name and address)
• Willingness to drive a Royal Mail van daily and able to pass a driving assessment
• Physically fit and comfortable walking long distances, climbing stairs / hills, and lifting / carrying 10kg+ mailbags
• Reliable and self-motivated
• Strong organisation and resilience in a busy environment
• Customer-focused, with pride in delivering great service
• Comfortable working outdoors and independently
