Job summary

Royal Mail is hiring a Postie (Postal Delivery Driver) in Weston Super Mare on a fixed term contract. You will deliver letters and parcels, sort mail at the office, and work outdoors in all weather. Expect a 37-hour week, with a rotating schedule across 7 days, and a starting wage of £13.68 per hour plus paid overtime.

Training is provided, with a uniform and a branded van. You’ll need a full manual UK driving licence (max 6 points) and the ability to pass a driving assessment.

Location: Weston Super Mare Delivery Office, BS23 3PR Job type: Fixed Term contract (9 months) Salary: £13.68 per hour (paid monthly) + paid overtime available. Working hours: 37.00 hours per week – working 5 days in 7 across Monday - Sunday Monday - Saturday hours: 07:19 - 15:19 Sunday hours: 11:00 - 19:00 Looking for a delivery driver job where you can stay active, connected to your community, and enjoy great benefits? You'll work on a rotating shift schedule, including some weekends. Your rota will confirm your hours and delivery routes, which may vary based on demand.

What To Expect

This role is physically demanding and fast-paced:

• Walking long distances (up to 12 miles / 20,000+ steps)
• Driving a Royal Mail van daily

• Busy, time-pressured days, especially during peak periods

About You

We'll provide full training, a uniform, and an iconic red van. You'll need:

• A full manual UK driving licence (maximum 6 penalty points, registered to your current name and address)
• Willingness to drive a Royal Mail van daily and able to pass a driving assessment
• Physically fit and comfortable walking long distances, climbing stairs / hills, and lifting / carrying 10kg+ mailbags
• Reliable and self-motivated
• Strong organisation and resilience in a busy environment
• Customer-focused, with pride in delivering great service
• Comfortable working outdoors and independently
