Job summary

Royal Mail Group is seeking a Postie in Torquay to deliver letters and parcels on a fixed-term basis. The role requires working a 30-hour week across Monday to Sunday, with an early/late rota and weekend shifts. Full training, a uniform, and a Royal Mail van are provided.

You will walk and drive in all weather, building relationships with customers and assuring timely deliveries while maintaining safety and professionalism on every route.

Qualifications

• Full manual UK driving licence (max 6 penalty points)
• Willingness to drive a Royal Mail van daily and pass a driving assessment
• Physically fit and able to walk long distances and carry 10kg+ mailbags

Location: Torquay Delivery Office, TQ2 7TA

Job type: Fixed Termcontract 9 months

Salary: £13.68 per hour* (paid monthly) + paid overtime available.
Working hours: 30:00hours per week - working 5 days in 7 across Monday - Sunday - 09:00/15:00*

You'll work on a rotating shift schedule, including some weekends. Your rota will confirm your hours and delivery routes, which may vary based on demand.

You'll be required to work two in four Sundays at TorquayDelivery Office working between 10:00/16:00

What to expect

This role is physically demanding and fast-paced:

• Walking long distances (up to 12 miles / 20,000+ steps)
• Driving a Royal Mail van daily

• Busy, time-pressured days, especially during peak periods

About you

We'll provide full training, a uniform, and an iconic red van. You'll need:

• A full manual UK driving licence (maximum 6 penalty points, registered to your current name and address)
• Willingness to drive a Royal Mail van daily and able to pass a driving assessment
• Physically fit and comfortable walking long distances, climbing stairs / hills, and lifting / carrying 10kg+ mailbags
• Reliable and self-motivated
• Strong organisation and resilience in a busy environment
• Customer-focused, with pride in delivering great service
• Comfortable working outdoors and independently
