Job summary

Royal Mail Group in Paignton is seeking a Postie (Postal Delivery Driver) to join our team on a fixed term contract of 9 months. You will deliver letters and parcels on a Royal Mail van route, walking when needed, and serve customers on your local patch.

The role is 30 hours per week, on a rotating shift across Monday to Sunday, with early starts and occasional weekend work. Training provided and full uniform supplied.

Qualifications

• Full UK manual driving licence required (no more than 6 penalty points)
• Willingness to drive a Royal Mail van daily and pass a driving assessment
• Physically fit to walk long distances, climb stairs/hills, and lift 10 kg+ mailbags
• Reliable and self-motivated
• Strong organisational skills and resilience in a busy environment
• Customer-focused with pride in delivering great service
• Comfortable working outdoors and independently

Overview

Location: Paignton Delivery Office, TQ4 5BX

Job type: Fixed Term contract 9 months

Salary: £13.68 per hour (paid monthly) + paid overtime available. Working hours: 30:00 hours per week. Working 5 days in 7 across Monday - Sunday with shifts 07:30 - 14:00 and 12:30 - 19:00

Responsibilities

• Sort letters and parcels at the delivery office
• Deliver post by van and on foot in your local area
• Build relationships with customers
• Work outdoors in all weathers

What you’ll do and schedule

You’ll work on a rotating shift schedule, including some weekends. Your rota will confirm your hours and delivery routes, which may vary based on demand.

You’ll be required to work one in four Sundays at Torquay Delivery Office, working between 12:00 - 17:00.

About you

We provide full training, a uniform, and an iconic red van. You will need:
