Royal Mail is hiring a Postie (Postal Delivery Driver) in Tonypandy. You will deliver letters and parcels, sort mail at the office, and engage with customers on your route. The role requires outdoor work, independence, and consistent reliability.

You’ll work 30 hours per week across 5 days, with some weekends and a rotating shift. Training is provided and you’ll drive a Royal Mail van daily in all weather conditions.

Location: Mid Rhondda Ganol Delivery Office, CF40 2XY

Job type: Fixed Term contract 6 months

Salary: £13.68 per hour* (paid monthly) + paid overtime available.

Working hours: 30:00 hours per week – working 5 days in 7 across Monday - Sunday – 09:00/17:00*

You’ll work on a rotating shift schedule, including some weekends. Your rota will confirm your hours and delivery routes, which may vary based on demand.

You’ll be required to work one in three Sundays at Mid Rhondda Ganol Delivery Office working between 12:00/18:00

What To Expect

This role is physically demanding and fast-paced:

• Walking long distances (up to 12 miles / 20,000+ steps)
• Driving a Royal Mail van daily

About You

We’ll provide full training, a uniform, and an iconic red van. You’ll need:

• A full manual UK driving licence (maximum 6 penalty points, registered to your current name and address)
• Willingness to drive a Royal Mail van daily and able to pass a driving assessment
• Physically fit and comfortable walking long distances, climbing stairs / hills, and lifting / carrying 10kg+ mailbags
• Reliable and self-motivated
• Strong organisation and resilience in a busy environment
• Customer-focused, with pride in delivering great service
• Comfortable working outdoors and independently
