Job summary

Royal Mail is seeking a Postie (Postal Delivery Driver) in Tonbridge to sort mail at the delivery office, and deliver letters and parcels by van or on foot across the local area. You will work rotating shifts, with some weekends, in a fast-paced outdoor role.

You will receive full training, a uniform, and a Royal Mail van. A valid UK driving licence and ability to pass a driving assessment are required.

Qualifications

• A full manual UK driving licence (maximum 6 penalty points).
• Willingness to drive a Royal Mail van daily and pass a driving assessment.
• Physically fit and comfortable walking long distances, climbing stairs/hills, and lifting 10kg+ mailbags.
• Reliable and self-motivated.
• Strong organisation and resilience in a busy environment.
• Customer-focused with pride in delivering great service.
• Comfortable working outdoors and independently.

Location: Tonbridge Delivery Office, TN9 1AA

Job type: Fixed Term contract (6 months)

Salary: £13.68 per hour* (paid monthly) + paid overtime available.Working hours: 31.5hours per week – working 5 days in 7 across Monday - Sunday – 14:00pm/20:00pm*

You’ll work on a rotating shift schedule, including some weekends. Your rota will confirm your hours and delivery routes, which may vary based on demand.

What to expect

This role is physically demanding and fast-paced:

• Walking long distances (up to 12 miles / 20,000+ steps)
• Driving a Royal Mail van daily

• Busy, time-pressured days, especially during peak periods

About you

• Willingness to drive a Royal Mail van daily and able to pass a driving assessment
• Physically fit and comfortable walking long distances, climbing stairs / hills, and lifting / carrying 10kg+ mailbags

• Customer-focused, with pride in delivering great service
• Comfortable working outdoors and independently
