Job summary

Royal Mail invites applications for a Postie (Postal Delivery Driver) in Telford. This fixed-term, 9-month contract involves sorting mail at the delivery office and delivering by van and on foot across your local area.

You’ll work a 37-hour week on a rotating schedule, with some weekend shifts and Sundays at Wellington TF Delivery Office. Full training, a uniform, and a red Royal Mail van are provided.

Qualifications

• Full manual UK driving licence with max 6 penalty points.
• Able to pass a driving assessment for Royal Mail vans.
• Physically fit to walk long distances and lift 10kg+ mailbags.
• Reliable, self-motivated and well-organised.

Salary: £13.68 per hour* (paid monthly) + paid overtime available.

Working hours: 37 hours per week - working 5 days in 7 across Monday - Sunday - 07:00 - 15:30/13:00 - 20:00*

What To Expect

This role is physically demanding and fast-paced:

• Walking long distances (up to 12 miles / 20,000+ steps)
• Driving a Royal Mail van daily
• Working in all weather conditions
• Delivering letters and high volumes of parcels
• Busy, time-pressured days, especially during peak periods

About You

We'll provide full training, a uniform, and an iconic red van. You'll need:

• A full manual UK driving licence (maximum 6 penalty points, registered to your current name and address)
• Willingness to drive a Royal Mail van daily and able to pass a driving assessment
• Physically fit and comfortable walking long distances, climbing stairs / hills, and lifting / carrying 10kg+ mailbags
• Reliable and self-motivated
• Strong organisation and resilience in a busy environment
• Customer-focused, with pride in delivering great service
• Comfortable working outdoors and independently
