Job summary

Royal Mail Swadlincote is hiring a Postie (Postal Delivery Driver) on a 9‑month fixed term contract. You will sort mail, deliver by van and on foot, and engage with customers on your round.

You will work a 30-hour week across Monday to Sunday, with weekend shifts, outdoors in all weathers, and full training provided.

A full UK manual driving licence (up to 6 points) is required, plus reliability and good fitness to handle bags up to 10 kg.

Job type: Fixed Term contract (9 months)

Salary: £13.68 per hour* (paid monthly) + paid overtime available.

Working hours: 30:00 hours per week - working 5 days in 7 across Monday - Sunday - 8:00/16:00*

You'll work on a rotating shift schedule, including some weekends. Your rota will confirm your hours and delivery routes, which may vary based on demand.

You'll be required to work Sundays at Burton On Trent Delivery Office.

About You

We'll provide full training, a uniform, and an iconic red van. You'll need:

• A full manual UK driving licence (maximum 6 penalty points, registered to your current name and address)
• Willingness to drive a Royal Mail van daily and able to pass a driving assessment
• Physically fit and comfortable walking long distances, climbing stairs / hills, and lifting / carrying 10kg+ mailbags
• Reliable and self-motivated
• Strong organisation and resilience in a busy environment

• Comfortable working outdoors and independently
