Job summary

Royal Mail Group in Redhill is seeking a Postie (Postal Delivery Driver) to join our delivery team. You will deliver letters and parcels daily, walking and driving a Royal Mail van, with a rotating shift including weekends.

We provide full training, a uniform and a distinctive red van. The role is physically demanding but rewarding, with outdoor work, customer interactions, and a clear route schedule. You will be joining a trusted service focused on community delivery and dependable service.

Qualifications

• Full manual UK driving licence (≤6 penalty points).
• Willingness to drive a Royal Mail van and pass a driving assessment.

Location: Redhill Delivery Office, RH1 1AA

Job type: Permanent contract 6 months

Salary: £13.68 per hour* (paid monthly) + paid overtime available.
Working hours: 37.00hours per week - working 5days in 7 across Monday - Sunday - 07:19/15:49*

You'll work on a rotating shift schedule, including some weekends. Your rota will confirm your hours and delivery routes, which may vary based on demand.

What to expect

• Walking long distances (up to 12 miles / 20,000+ steps)
• Driving a Royal Mail van daily

About you

We'll provide full training, a uniform, and an iconic red van. You'll need:

• A full manual UK driving licence (maximum 6 penalty points, registered to your current name and address)
• Willingness to drive a Royal Mail van daily and able to pass a driving assessment
• Physically fit and comfortable walking long distances, climbing stairs / hills, and lifting / carrying 10kg+ mailbags
• Reliable and self-motivated
• Strong organisation and resilience in a busy environment
• Customer-focused, with pride in delivering great service
• Comfortable working outdoors and independently
