Job summary

Royal Mail in Oswestry is hiring a Postie (Postal Delivery Driver) for a permanent contract. The role is 30 hours per week across five days, with a £13.68 hourly rate plus overtime, and a rotating weekend schedule.

Expect outdoor work, driving a Royal Mail van, and delivering letters and parcels to local customers. Full training provided; Sundays are required on some shifts, with a focus on community service.

Job type: Permanent contract

Salary: £13.68 per hour* (paid monthly) + paid overtime available. Working hours: 30:00hours per week - working 5 days in 7 across Monday - Sunday -07:15/15:15*

You'll work on a rotating shift schedule, including some weekends. Your rota will confirm your hours and delivery routes, which may vary based on demand.

You'll be required to work Sundays.

What to expect

This role is physically demanding and fast-paced:

• Walking long distances (up to 12 miles / 20,000+ steps)
• Driving a Royal Mail van daily

• Busy, time-pressured days, especially during peak periods

About you

We’ll provide full training, a uniform, and an iconic red van. You’ll need:

• A full manual UK driving licence (maximum 6 penalty points, registered to your current name and address)
• Willingness to drive a Royal Mail van daily and able to pass a driving assessment
• Physically fit and comfortable walking long distances, climbing stairs / hills, and lifting / carrying 10kg+ mailbags
• Reliable and self-motivated
• Strong organisation and resilience in a busy environment
• Customer-focused, with pride in delivering great service
• Comfortable working outdoors and independently
