Job summary

Royal Mail in Northwich is hiring a Postie (Postal Delivery Driver) to deliver letters and parcels on a 32-hour weekly schedule across Monday to Sunday, with shifts 9:00-16:15 or 14:00-20:00, on a fixed term contract.

You will walk and drive a Royal Mail van, outdoors in all weather, and build relationships with customers. Training provided and a uniform supplied.

Qualifications

• A full manual UK driving licence (max 6 penalty points) registered to your name/address.
• Willingness to drive a Royal Mail van daily and pass a driving assessment.
• Physically fit for long walking and lifting mailbags (10kg+).
• Reliable, self-motivated and able to work outdoors in all weather.
• Strong organisation and resilience with a customer-focused approach.

Job type: Fixed Term contract (9 months)

Salary: £13.68 per hour* (paid monthly) + paid overtime available.

Working hours: 32:00 hours per week – working 5 days in 7 across Monday - Sunday – 9am-4:15pm or 2pm-8pm*

What To Expect

This role is physically demanding and fast-paced:

• Walking long distances (up to 12 miles / 20,000+ steps)
• Driving a Royal Mail van daily

• Busy, time-pressured days, especially during peak periods

About You

We’ll provide full training, a uniform, and an iconic red van. You’ll need:

• A full manual UK driving licence (maximum 6 penalty points, registered to your current name and address)
• Willingness to drive a Royal Mail van daily and able to pass a driving assessment
• Physically fit and comfortable walking long distances, climbing stairs / hills, and lifting / carrying 10kg+ mailbags
• Reliable and self-motivated
• Strong organisation and resilience in a busy environment
• Customer-focused, with pride in delivering great service
• Comfortable working outdoors and independently
