Job summary

Royal Mail is hiring a Postie (Postal Delivery Driver) in Manchester to deliver letters and parcels by van and on foot, while sorting at the delivery office and building strong relationships with customers.

You will work outdoors in all weathers, 30 hours per week across Monday to Saturday, with a fixed-term contract of 10 months. A full manual UK driving licence and the ability to pass a driving assessment are essential.

Location: Manchester North West Delivery Office, M28 2AA
Job type: Fixed Term contract (10 Months)
Salary: £13.68 per hour* (paid monthly) + paid overtime available.
Working hours: 30:00 hours per week – working 5 days across Monday - Saturday – 09:00/16:00*

What To Expect

This role is physically demanding and fast-paced:

• Walking long distances (up to 12 miles / 20,000+ steps)
• Driving a Royal Mail van daily
• Working in all weather conditions
• Delivering letters and high volumes of parcels
• Busy, time-pressured days, especially during peak periods

About You

• A full manual UK driving licence (maximum 5 penalty points, registered to your current name and address)
• Willingness to drive a Royal Mail van daily and able to pass a driving assessment
• Physically fit and comfortable walking long distances, climbing stairs / hills, and lifting / carrying 10kg+ mailbags
• Reliable and self-motivated
• Strong organisation and resilience in a busy environment
• Customer-focused, with pride in delivering great service
• Comfortable working outdoors and independently
