Job summary

Royal Mail is seeking a Postie in Runcorn to deliver letters and parcels on a rotating shift schedule. You will walk and drive in the local area, building relationships with customers while working outdoors in all weather.

The role requires a full manual UK driving licence (max 6 penalty points), willingness to drive daily, and physical fitness to manage long walks and lifting mailbags.

Location: Runcorn Delivery Office, WA7 1AA

Job type: Fixed Term contract (6 months)

Salary: £13.68 per hour* (paid monthly) + paid overtime available.

Working hours: 30 hours per week – working 5 days in 7 across Monday - Sunday – 8:15am-3:15pm or 2pm-8pm*

You’ll work on a rotating shift schedule, including some weekends. Your rota will confirm your hours and delivery routes, which may vary based on demand.

You’ll be required to work Sundays at Warrington Delivery Office, WA5 1WA between 12pm-6pm.

What To Expect

This role is physically demanding and fast-paced:

• Walking long distances (up to 12 miles / 20,000+ steps)
• Driving a Royal Mail van daily
• Working in all weather conditions
• Delivering letters and high volumes of parcels
• Busy, time-pressured days, especially during peak periods

About You

We’ll provide full training, a uniform, and an iconic red van. You’ll need:

• A full manual UK driving licence (maximum 6 penalty points, registered to your current name and address)
• Willingness to drive a Royal Mail van daily and able to pass a driving assessment
• Physically fit and comfortable walking long distances, climbing stairs / hills, and lifting / carrying 10kg+ mailbags
• Reliable and self-motivated
• Strong organisation and resilience in a busy environment
• Customer-focused, with pride in delivering great service
• Comfortable working outdoors and independently
