Job summary

Royal Mail Group in Narberth is hiring a Postie (Postal Delivery Driver) on a fixed-term six-month contract. You will deliver letters and parcels from the Narberth Delivery Office, with a rotating shift and weekend work as required.

This active, outdoor role involves driving a Royal Mail van, walking long distances, and building relationships with customers while delivering in all weather. Training is provided and the job offers variety and daily routine.

Qualifications

• Physically fit for long-distance walking, stairs/hills, and lifting 10kg+ mailbags.

Job type: Fixed Termcontract 6 months

Salary: £13.68 per hour* (paid monthly) + paid overtime available.
Working hours: 30:00hours per week - working 5 days in 7 across Monday - Sunday -08:30/14:30and12:30/18:30*

You’ll work on a rotating shift schedule, including some weekends. Your rota will confirm your hours and delivery routes, which may vary based on demand.

You may be required to work Sundays.

What to expect

This role is physically demanding and fast-paced:

• Walking long distances (up to 12 miles / 20,000+ steps)
• Driving a Royal Mail van daily
• Working in all weather conditions
• Delivering letters and high volumes of parcels
• Busy, time-pressured days, especially during peak periods

About you

We’ll provide full training, a uniform, and an iconic red van. You’ll need:

• A full manual UK driving licence (maximum 6 penalty points, registered to your current name and address)
• Willingness to drive a Royal Mail van daily and able to pass a driving assessment
• Physically fit and comfortable walking long distances, climbing stairs / hills, and lifting / carrying 10kg+ mailbags
• Reliable and self‑motivated
• Strong organisation and resilience in a busy environment
• Customer‑focused, with pride in delivering great service
• Comfortable working outdoors and independently
