Job summary

Royal Mail in Marple is seeking a Postie (Postal Delivery Driver) to sort letters and parcels at the delivery office, then deliver by van and on foot in the local area, while building relationships with customers. You will work outdoors in all weather and on a rotating schedule that includes Sundays.

The role is 30 hours per week across five days with full training, a uniform, and an iconic red van. Overtime is paid where applicable, and shifts may vary by demand.

Location: Marple Delivery Office, SK6 7BL
Job type: Fixed Term contract (9 months)
Salary: £13.68 per hour* (paid monthly) + paid overtime available.
Working hours: 30:00 hours per week - working 5 days in 7 across Monday - Sunday - 09:00/15:15*

You'll work on a rotating shift schedule, including some weekends. Your rota will confirm your hours and delivery routes, which may vary based on demand.

You'll be required to work Sundays at Stockport Delivery Office between 11am to 5pm.

What To Expect

This role is physically demanding and fast-paced:

• Walking long distances (up to 12 miles / 20,000+ steps)
• Driving a Royal Mail van daily

• Busy, time-pressured days, especially during peak periods

About You

We'll provide full training, a uniform, and an iconic red van. You'll need:

• A full manual UK driving licence (maximum 6 penalty points, registered to your current name and address)
• Willingness to drive a Royal Mail van daily and able to pass a driving assessment
• Physically fit and comfortable walking long distances, climbing stairs / hills, and lifting / carrying 10kg+ mailbags
• Reliable and self-motivated
• Strong organisation and resilience in a busy environment
• Customer-focused, with pride in delivering great service
• Comfortable working outdoors and independently
