Job summary

Royal Mail in Kirkcaldy is hiring a Postie (Postal Delivery Driver) on a 9‑month fixed term contract. You’ll deliver letters and parcels in Kirkcaldy using a Royal Mail van and on-foot routes.

The role is 30 hours a week on a rotating schedule, including some weekends, with full training, a uniform, and the iconic red van.

You’ll need a full manual UK driving licence (max 6 penalty points), be physically fit to walk long distances and lift mailbags, and be comfortable outdoors.

Job type: Fixed Term contract 9 months

Salary: £13.68 per hour* (paid monthly) + paid overtime available.

Working hours: 30:00 hours per week – working 5 days across Monday-Sunday – 10:30am/16:30pm*

What To Expect

This role is physically demanding and fast-paced:

• Walking long distances (up to 12 miles / 20,000+ steps)
• Driving a Royal Mail van daily

About You

We’ll provide full training, a uniform, and an iconic red van. You’ll need:

• A full manual UK driving licence (maximum 6 penalty points, registered to your current name and address)
• Willingness to drive a Royal Mail van daily and able to pass a driving assessment
• Physically fit and comfortable walking long distances, climbing stairs / hills, and lifting / carrying 10kg+ mailbags
• Reliable and self-motivated
• Strong organisation and resilience in a busy environment
• Customer-focused, with pride in delivering great service
• Comfortable working outdoors and independently
