Job summary

Royal Mail Group in Falkirk is seeking a Postie (Postal Delivery Driver) on a fixed-term 9-month contract. You’ll deliver letters and parcels by van and on foot, sort mail at the delivery office, and build relationships with customers.

You’ll work 28.5 hours per week on rotating shifts, including some weekends, with full training provided and a safety-focused, community-facing role in all weathers. Full manual UK driving licence required, and you’ll be assessed for driving ability.

Qualifications

Job type: Fixed Term contract(9 months)

Salary: £13.68 per hour* (paid monthly) + paid overtime available.

Working hours: 28:30hours per week - working 5 d days in 7 across Monday - Sunday - 10:30 or 15:00/16:30 or 21:00*

You'll work on a rotating shift schedule, including some weekends. Your rota will confirm your hours and delivery routes, which may vary based on demand.

What to expect

This role is physically demanding and fast-paced:

• Walking long distances (up to 12 miles / 20,000+ steps)
• Driving a Royal Mail van daily

• Busy, time-pressured days, especially during peak periods

About you

We'll provide full training, a uniform, and an iconic red van. You'll need:

• A full manual UK driving licence (maximum 6 penalty points, registered to your current name and address)
• Willingness to drive a Royal Mail van daily and able to pass a driving assessment
• Physically fit and comfortable walking long distances, climbing stairs / hills, and lifting / carrying 10kg+ mailbags
• Reliable and self-motivated
• Strong organisation and resilience in a busy environment
• Customer-focused, with pride in delivering great service
• Comfortable working outdoors and independently
