Job summary

Royal Mail Group in Dunfermline is seeking a part-time Postie (Postal Delivery Driver) for a 9-month fixed-term contract. You’ll deliver letters and parcels on a rotating shift, 30 hours per week across Monday to Saturday, with paid overtime and a daily route within Dunfermline.

You’ll join a trusted team, stay active outdoors, and build connections with customers as you deliver with a Royal Mail van and on foot, in all weather conditions.

Qualifications

• Full manual UK driving licence with up to 6 penalty points.
• Willingness to drive a Royal Mail van daily and pass a driving assessment.
• Physically fit to walk long distances and lift mailbags.
• Reliable and self-motivated with strong organisational skills.
• Customer-focused and able to work outdoors independently.

Job type: Fixed Term contract (9 months)

Salary: £13.68 per hour* (paid monthly) + paid overtime available.
Working hours: 30:00 hours per week - working 5 days in 7 across Monday - Saturday 09:30/16:30*

You’ll work on a rotating shift schedule, including some weekends. Your rota will confirm your hours and delivery routes, which may vary based on demand.

What to expect

This role is physically demanding and fast-paced:

• Walking long distances (up to 12 miles / 20,000+ steps)
• Driving a Royal Mail van daily
• Working in all weather conditions
• Delivering letters and high volumes of parcels
• Busy, time-pressured days, especially during peak periods

About you

We’ll provide full training, a uniform, and an iconic red van. You’ll need:

• A full manual UK driving licence (maximum 6 penalty points, registered to your current name and address)
• Willingness to drive a Royal Mail van daily and able to pass a driving assessment
• Physically fit and comfortable walking long distances, climbing stairs / hills, and lifting / carrying 10kg+ mailbags
• Reliable and self-motivated
• Strong organisation and resilience in a busy environment
• Customer-focused, with pride in delivering great service
• Comfortable working outdoors and independently
