Royal Mail Hereford Delivery Office is seeking a Postie (Postal Delivery Driver) to deliver letters and parcels on a rotating shift, with some weekend work and a 37-hour week.

You will wear the iconic red van, receive full training, and be part of a community-facing role with outdoor work and a focus on customer service.

Qualifications

• A full manual UK driving licence (maximum 6 penalty points).
• Willingness to drive a Royal Mail van daily and pass a driving assessment.
• Physically fit and able to walk long distances, climb stairs/hills, lift/carry 10kg+ mailbags.

Location: Hereford Delivery Office, HR1 1AA

Job type: Fixed Term contract (12 months)

Salary: £13.68 per hour* (paid monthly) + paid overtime available.

Working hours: 37:00 hours per week – working8 5 days in 7 across Monday - Sunday – 08:00/16:00*

You’ll work on a rotating shift schedule, including some weekends. Your rota will confirm your hours and delivery routes, which may vary based on demand.

You’ll be required to work Sundays at Hereford Delivery Office on a 1 in 5 rota basis.

• Walking long distances (up to 12 miles / 20,000+ steps)
• Driving a Royal Mail van daily

About You

We’ll provide full training, a uniform, and an iconic red van. You’ll need:

• A full manual UK driving licence (maximum 6 penalty points, registered to your current name and address)
• Willingness to drive a Royal Mail van daily and able to pass a driving assessment
• Physically fit and comfortable walking long distances, climbing stairs / hills, and lifting / carrying 10kg+ mailbags
• Reliable and self-motivated
• Strong organisation and resilience in a busy environment
• Customer-focused, with pride in delivering great service
• Comfortable working outdoors and independently
