Job summary

Royal Mail is hiring a Postie (Postal Delivery Driver) in Gillingham to deliver letters and parcels from Rainham Delivery Office. You will work around your local area, driving a Royal Mail van and walking routes in all weather conditions.

The role is full-time, with a 30-hour week across 5 days in 7, including some weekend work. Training is provided, and you will join a trusted network delivering community mail and parcels.

Qualifications

• A full manual UK driving licence is required (maximum 6 penalty points).
• Physically fit and able to walk long distances and lift 10 kg+ mailbags.
• Reliable, self-motivated and able to work independently.

Job type: Permanent contract

Salary: £13.68 per hour* (paid monthly) + paid overtime available.

Working hours: 30:00 hours per week – working 5 days in 7 across Monday - Sunday – 08:00/20:00*

You’ll work on a rotating shift schedule, including some weekends. Your rota will confirm your hours and delivery routes, which may vary based on demand.

You’ll be required to work Sundays at Chatham Delivery Office.

What To Expect

About You

We’ll provide full training, a uniform, and an iconic red van. You’ll need:

• A full manual UK driving licence (maximum 6 penalty points, registered to your current name and address)
• Willingness to drive a Royal Mail van daily and able to pass a driving assessment
• Physically fit and comfortable walking long distances, climbing stairs / hills, and lifting / carrying 10kg+ mailbags
• Reliable and self-motivated
• Strong organisation and resilience in a busy environment
• Customer-focused, with pride in delivering great service
• Comfortable working outdoors and independently
