Job summary

Royal Mail in Falmouth is hiring a Postie (Postal Delivery Driver) on a 9-month fixed-term contract. The role involves delivering letters and parcels by van and on foot, sorting at the delivery office, and building relationships with customers.

Rotating shifts across Monday to Sunday with 25 hours per week and some weekend work. You’ll need a full manual UK driving licence (up to 6 penalty points), be comfortable outdoors in all weather, and pass a driving assessment.

Working hours: 25:00 hours per week – working 5 days in 7 across Monday - Sunday – 08:00/16:30*

What To Expect

This role is physically demanding and fast-paced:

• Walking long distances (up to 12 miles / 20,000+ steps)
• Driving a Royal Mail van daily
• Working in all weather conditions
• Delivering letters and high volumes of parcels
• Busy, time-pressured days, especially during peak periods

About You

• A full manual UK driving licence (maximum 6 penalty points, registered to your current name and address)
• Willingness to drive a Royal Mail van daily and able to pass a driving assessment
• Physically fit and comfortable walking long distances, climbing stairs / hills, and lifting / carrying 10kg+ mailbags
• Reliable and self-motivated
• Strong organisation and resilience in a busy environment
• Customer-focused, with pride in delivering great service
• Comfortable working outdoors and independently
