Job summary

Royal Mail Group in Peacehaven is hiring a Postie to deliver letters and parcels across the local area. You will work on a rotating shift, 30 hours per week across 5 days in 7, with early and late starts and weekends on occasion.

You will need a full manual UK driving licence and the stamina to walk and drive in all weather. Training is provided, you’ll wear a uniform and drive a red Royal Mail van, with overtime available.

Job type: Fixed Term contract 6 months

Salary: £13.68 per hour * (paid monthly) + paid overtime available.
Working hours: 30.00 hours per week - working 5 days in 7 across Monday - Sunday - 7:00 - 15:00/14:30 - 21:00*

What to expect

This role is physically demanding and fast-paced:

• Walking long distances (up to 12 miles / 20,000+ steps)
• Driving a Royal Mail van daily
• Working in all weather conditions
• Delivering letters and high volumes of parcels
• Busy, time-pressured days, especially during peak periods

About you

We'll provide full training, a uniform, and an iconic red van. You'll need:

• A full manual UK driving licence (maximum 6 penalty points, registered to your current name and address)
• Willingness to drive a Royal Mail van daily and able to pass a driving assessment
• Physically fit and comfortable walking long distances , climbing stairs / hills, and lifting / carrying 10kg+ mailbags
• Reliable and self-motivated
• Strong organisation and resilience in a busy environment
• Customer-focused, with pride in delivering great service
• Comfortable working outdoors and independently
