Job summary

Royal Mail in Doncaster is seeking a Postie (Postal Delivery Driver) to sort letters and parcels at the delivery office and deliver by van and on foot in your local area. You will work on a rotating shift, including some weekends, with full training and a supportive team environment.

You’ll need a full manual UK driving licence, be physically fit to walk long distances, and comfortable working outdoors in all weather. Great benefits and pension available.

Salary: £13.68 per hour* (paid monthly) + paid overtime available.

Working hours: 30:00 hours per week – working (X) days in 7 across Monday - Sunday – full time 06:40 Part time 08:15/15:15 Mon,Tues,Thur & Fri, Wednesday 15:40 & Saturday 14:40*

You’ll work on a rotating shift schedule, including some weekends. Your rota will confirm your hours and delivery routes, which may vary based on demand.

What To Expect

This role is physically demanding and fast-paced:

• Walking long distances (up to 12 miles / 20,000+ steps)
• Driving a Royal Mail van daily
• Working in all weather conditions
• Delivering letters and high volumes of parcels
• Busy, time-pressured days, especially during peak periods

About You

We’ll provide full training, a uniform, and an iconic red van. You’ll need:

• A full manual UK driving licence (maximum 6 penalty points, registered to your current name and address)
• Willingness to drive a Royal Mail van daily and able to pass a driving assessment
• Physically fit and comfortable walking long distances, climbing stairs / hills, and lifting / carrying 10kg+ mailbags
• Reliable and self-motivated
• Strong organisation and resilience in a busy environment
• Customer-focused, with pride in delivering great service
• Comfortable working outdoors and independently
