Job summary

Royal Mail in Bury is seeking a Postie (Postal Delivery Driver) on a permanent contract. You will work 30 hours per week across a rotating schedule, including weekends, with a 09:00–15:00 shift and Sunday 10:00–16:00 on a rota. Training is provided, with a uniform and a red Royal Mail van.

Expected duties include sorting at the delivery office, delivering by van and on foot, and building relationships with customers in all weathers. PTO, benefits, and overtime opportunities apply.

Qualifications

• Full manual UK driving licence with up to 6 penalty points.

Salary: £13.68 per hour* (paid monthly) + paid overtime available.

Working hours: 30:00 hours per week – working 5 days in 7 across Monday - Sunday – 09:00/15:00*

You’ll work on a rotating shift schedule, including some weekends. Your rota will confirm your hours and delivery routes, which may vary based on demand.

You’ll be required to work 10:00-16:00 Sundays on a rota basis.

What To Expect

• Walking long distances (up to 12 miles / 20,000+ steps)

About You

We’ll provide full training, a uniform, and an iconic red van. You’ll need:

• A full manual UK driving licence (maximum 6 penalty points, registered to your current name and address)
• Willingness to drive a Royal Mail van daily and able to pass a driving assessment
• Physically fit and comfortable walking long distances, climbing stairs / hills, and lifting / carrying 10kg+ mailbags
• Reliable and self-motivated

• Comfortable working outdoors and independently
