Job summary

Royal Mail Group in Cowbridge is seeking a Postie (Postal Delivery Driver) for a fixed-term 6-month contract. You will deliver letters and parcels, walk long distances, and work outdoors while maintaining a high standard of customer service.

The role involves a 32-hour week across 5 days, with a rotating shift including Sundays and some weekends. Training is provided and a Royal Mail van is used daily.

Qualifications

• Full manual UK driving licence is required.
• Willingness to drive a Royal Mail van daily and pass a driving assessment.
• Physically fit and able to walk long distances, climb stairs/hills, and lift 10kg+ mailbags.
• Reliable and self-motivated in a busy environment.

Salary: £13.68 per hour* (paid monthly) + paid overtime available.
Working hours: 32 hours per week - working 5days in 7 across Monday - Sunday - 8:30/15:30*

What to expect

This role is physically demanding and fast-paced:

• Walking long distances (up to 12 miles / 20,000+ steps)
• Driving a Royal Mail van daily

• Busy, time-pressured days, especially during peak periods

About you

We’ll provide full training, a uniform, and an iconic red van. You’ll need:

• A full manual UK driving licence (maximum 6 penalty points, registered to your current name and address)
• Willingness to drive a Royal Mail van daily and able to pass a driving assessment
• Physically fit and comfortable walking long distances, climbing stairs / hills, and lifting / carrying 10kg+ mailbags
• Reliable and self-motivated
• Strong organisation and resilience in a busy environment
• Customer-focused, with pride in delivering great service
• Comfortable working outdoors and independently
