Job summary

Royal Mail in Colwyn Bay is seeking a Postie (Postal Delivery Driver) on a fixed-term contract to join the team. You will perform street deliveries in Colwyn Bay, working a 25:00 hour week on a rotating shift and covering some weekends. A uniform is provided and overtime is paid where applicable.

This active, outdoor role keeps you connected to the community as you deliver letters, parcels and important documents by van and on foot, with training supplied.

Location: Colwyn Bay Delivery Office, LL29 8HY

Job type: Fixed Term contract, 6 months

Salary: £13.68 per hour* (paid monthly) + paid overtime available.

Working hours: 25:00 hours per week – working 5 days in 7 across Monday - Sunday – supporting two separate shifts between 10:00/18:00*

You’ll work on a rotating shift schedule, including some weekends. Your rota will confirm your hours and delivery routes, which may vary based on demand.

Due to operational demand, you may be required to work Sundays at Rhyl Delivery Office, LL18 1AA.

What To Expect

This role is physically demanding and fast-paced:

• Walking long distances (up to 12 miles / 20,000+ steps)
• Driving a Royal Mail van daily
• Working in all weather conditions
• Delivering letters and high volumes of parcels
• Busy, time-pressured days, especially during peak periods

About You

We’ll provide full training, a uniform, and an iconic red van. You’ll need:

• A full manual UK driving licence (maximum 6 penalty points, registered to your current name and address)
• Willingness to drive a Royal Mail van daily and able to pass a driving assessment
• Physically fit and comfortable walking long distances, climbing stairs / hills, and lifting / carrying 10kg+ mailbags
• Reliable and self-motivated
• Strong organisation and resilience in a busy environment
• Customer-focused, with pride in delivering great service
• Comfortable working outdoors and independently
