Job summary

Royal Mail in Llanelli is hiring a Postie (Postal Delivery Driver) to deliver letters and parcels on a 30-hour week schedule. The role is fixed-term for six months, with a 5-day-in-7 pattern across Monday to Sunday and weekend shifts as needed.

You will drive a Royal Mail van and walk in your local area, sorting at the delivery office and building relationships with customers. The job is outdoors in all weathers and involves a physical pace during peak periods.

Salary: £13.68 per hour* (paid monthly) + paid overtime available.

Working hours: 30:00 hours per week - working 5 days in 7 across Monday - Sunday - 08:00/14:30*

You’ll work on a rotating shift schedule, including some weekends. Your rota will confirm your hours and delivery routes, which may vary based on demand. Due to operational demand, you may be required to work occasional Sundays throughout peak periods.

What To Expect

This role is physically demanding and fast-paced:

• Walking long distances (up to 12 miles / 20,000+ steps)
• Driving a Royal Mail van daily

About You

We’ll provide full training, a uniform, and an iconic red van. You’ll need:

• A full manual UK driving licence (maximum 6 penalty points, registered to your current name and address)
• Willingness to drive a Royal Mail van daily and able to pass a driving assessment
• Physically fit and comfortable walking long distances, climbing stairs / hills, and lifting / carrying 10kg+ mailbags
• Reliable and self-motivated
• Strong organisation and resilience in a busy environment
• Customer-focused, with pride in delivering great service
• Comfortable working outdoors and independently
