Job summary

Royal Mail in Coalville is seeking a Postie to deliver letters and parcels in the local area. You’ll work outdoors in all weathers, using a Royal Mail van and your own effort to keep communities connected.

Full training and a uniform are provided, along with a red van and ongoing support. The role is fixed-term for 10 months with overtime options, starting on an early schedule across 5 days in 7.

Qualifications

• Full manual UK driving licence with up to 6 penalty points.
• Ability to walk long distances and lift 10kg+ mailbags.
• Willingness to work outdoors in all weathers.

Location: Coalville Delivery Office, LE67 3ET

Job type: Fixed Term contract (10 months)

Salary: £13.68 per hour* (paid monthly) + paid overtime available.

Working hours: 06:00 hours per week – working 5 days in 7 across Monday - Sunday – 08:00 or 14:00/14:00 - 20:00*

What To Expect

This role is physically demanding and fast-paced:

• Walking long distances (up to 12 miles / 20,000+ steps)
• Driving a Royal Mail van daily
• Working in all weather conditions
• Delivering letters and high volumes of parcels
• Busy, time-pressured days, especially during peak periods

About You

We’ll provide full training, a uniform, and an iconic red van. You’ll need:

• A full manual UK driving licence (maximum 6 penalty points, registered to your current name and address)
• Willingness to drive a Royal Mail van daily and able to pass a driving assessment
• Physically fit and comfortable walking long distances, climbing stairs / hills, and lifting / carrying 10kg+ mailbags
• Reliable and self-motivated
• Strong organisation and resilience in a busy environment
• Customer-focused, with pride in delivering great service
• Comfortable working outdoors and independently
