Job summary

Royal Mail Brentwood is seeking a Postie to deliver letters and parcels on a rotating 37-hour week in Brentwood. You’ll work shifts 07:00-15:00 or 13:00-21:00, including Sundays, with full training provided and a guided route.

You’ll need a full UK manual driving licence (up to 6 penalty points), be physically fit to walk long distances and lift mailbags, and enjoy working outdoors. Benefits include pension, wellbeing support, and a supportive, community-focused team.

Location: Brentwood Delivery Office, CM14 4AA

Job type: Fixed Term contract (12 months)

Salary: £13.68 per hour * (paid monthly) + paid overtime available.

Working hours: 37:00 hours per week – working 5 days in 7 across Monday - Sunday – 07:00-15:00/13:00 -21:00*

You’ll work on a rotating shift schedule, including some weekends. Your rota will confirm your hours and delivery routes, which may vary based on demand.

You’ll be required to work Sundays at Brentwodd Delivery Office and the shift pattern would be from 10:00/18:00*.

What To Expect

This role is physically demanding and fast-paced:

• Walking long distances (up to 12 miles / 20,000+ steps)
• Driving a Royal Mail van daily

About You

We’ll provide full training, a uniform, and an iconic red van. You’ll need:

• Willingness to drive a Royal Mail van daily and able to pass a driving assessment
• Physically fit and comfortable walking long distances, climbing stairs / hills, and lifting / carrying 10kg+ mailbags
• Reliable and self-motivated
• Strong organisation and resilience in a busy environment
• Customer-focused, with pride in delivering great service
• Comfortable working outdoors and independently
