Job summary

Royal Mail Group in Edgware is looking for a Postie to deliver letters and parcels across the local area. The role is 30 hours per week, five days across Monday to Sunday, with early start times and a Sunday shift 12:00–18:00.

Full training is provided, a uniform is supplied, and you'll drive a Royal Mail van in all weather conditions. This fixed term post (6 months) offers an active, outdoor role with overtime, pension-like benefits, and the chance to connect with the community while building

Job type: Fixed Term contract (6 months)

Salary: £16.24 per hour* (paid monthly) + paid overtime available.Working hours: 30:00hours per week - working 5 days in 7 across Monday - Sunday - 07:45/15:30

You'll work on a rotating shift schedule, including some weekends. Your rota will confirm your hours and delivery routes, which may vary based on demand.

You'll be required to work Sundays from 12:00 to 18:00.

What to expect

This role is physically demanding and fast-paced:

• Walking long distances (up to 12 miles / 20,000+ steps)
• Driving a Royal Mail van daily
• Working in all weather conditions
• Delivering letters and high volumes of parcels
• Busy, time-pressured days, especially during peak periods

About you

We'll provide full training, a uniform, and an iconic red van. You'll need:

• full manual UK driving licence (maximum 6 penalty points, registered to your current name and address)
• Willingness to drive a Royal Mail van daily and able to pass a driving assessment
• Physically fit and comfortable walking long distances, climbing stairs / hills, and lifting / carrying 10kg+ mailbags
• Reliable and self-motivated
• Strong organisation and resilience in a busy environment
• Customer-focused, with pride in delivering great service
• Comfortable working outdoors and independently
