Job summary

Royal Mail is seeking a Postie (Postal Delivery Driver) in Bicester to deliver letters and parcels across a rotating shift. You’ll sort mail, drive a Royal Mail van, and regularly walk long distances in all weather while building strong customer relationships.

The role demands independence, reliability, and the ability to handle high-volume days. Training, a uniform, and a company van are provided along with benefits.

Qualifications

• Must hold a full manual UK driving licence (maximum 6 penalty points)

Location: Bicester Delivery Office, OX26 4ZZ

Job type: Permanent

Salary: £13.68 per hour* (paid monthly) + paid overtime available.

Working hours: 37:00 hours per week – working (5) days in 7 across Monday - Sunday – 09:30/18:00*

You’ll work on a rotating shift schedule, including some weekends. Your rota will confirm your hours and delivery routes, which may vary based on demand.

You’ll be required to work 1-2 Sundays per month at either Bicester or Banbury Delivery Office.

What To Expect

This role is physically demanding and fast-paced:

• Walking long distances (up to 12 miles / 20,000+ steps)
• Driving a Royal Mail van daily

About You

We’ll provide full training, a uniform, and an iconic red van. You’ll need:

• Willingness to drive a Royal Mail van daily and able to pass a driving assessment
• Physically fit and comfortable walking long distances, climbing stairs / hills, and lifting / carrying 10kg+ mailbags
• Reliable and self-motivated

• Customer-focused, with pride in delivering great service
• Comfortable working outdoors and independently
