Job summary

Royal Mail is hiring a Postie (Postal Delivery Driver) in Coventry. You will sort letters and parcels at the delivery office, deliver by van and on foot in your local area, and build relationships with customers. The role is 37 hours per week on a rotating shift, with weekends included, on a fixed-term 12‑month contract.

You’ll need a full UK driving licence, be physically fit to walk long distances, and pass a driving assessment. Training is provided, and a uniform and van are provided.

  • Willingness to drive a Royal Mail van daily and pass a driving assessment.

Location: Coventry South Delivery Office, CV3 4RP

Job type: Fixed Term contract 12 months

Salary: £13.68 per hour* (paid monthly) + paid overtime available.

Working hours: 37:00 hours per week – working 5 days in 7 across Monday - Sunday – 06:49/14:30*

What To Expect

This role is physically demanding and fast-paced:

  • Walking long distances (up to 12 miles / 20,000+ steps)
  • Driving a Royal Mail van daily
  • Working in all weather conditions
  • Delivering letters and high volumes of parcels
  • Busy, time-pressured days, especially during peak periods
About You

We’ll provide full training, a uniform, and an iconic red van. You’ll need:

  • A full manual UK driving licence (maximum 6 penalty points, registered to your current name and address)
  • Willingness to drive a Royal Mail van daily and able to pass a driving assessment
  • Physically fit and comfortable walking long distances, climbing stairs / hills, and lifting / carrying 10kg+ mailbags
  • Reliable and self-motivated
  • Strong organisation and resilience in a busy environment
  • Customer-focused, with pride in delivering great service
  • Comfortable working outdoors and independently
