Job summary

Royal Mail is hiring a Postie (Postal Delivery Driver) for Malton Delivery Office (YO17 7HS). You will sort letters and parcels, deliver by van and on foot in your local area, and build relationships with customers on your route. This is a fixed-term contract (6 months) with a 30-hour week and some weekend shifts.

Full training and a uniform are provided. A full manual UK driving licence is required, and you must be willing to pass a driving assessment.

Qualifications

Job type: Fixed Term contract ( 6 months )

Salary: £13.68 per hour* (paid monthly) + paid overtime available.
Working hours: 30:00hours per week – working 5 days across Monday - Sunday – 08:00/16:00*

You’ll work on a rotating shift schedule, including some weekends. Your rota will confirm your hours and delivery routes, which may vary based on demand.

You’ll be required to work some Sundays at Malton Delivery Office, YO17 7HS, 11am to 5pm

This role is physically demanding and fast-paced:

• Walking long distances (up to 12 miles / 20,000+ steps)
• Driving a Royal Mail van daily

About you

We’ll provide full training, a uniform, and an iconic red van. You’ll need:

• A full manual UK driving licence (maximum 6 penalty points, registered to your current name and address)
• Willingness to drive a Royal Mail van daily and able to pass a driving assessment
• Physically fit and comfortable walking long distances, climbing stairs / hills, and lifting / carrying 10kg+ mailbags
• Reliable and self-motivated
• Strong organisation and resilience in a busy environment
• Customer-focused, with pride in delivering great service
• Comfortable working outdoors and independently
